Treatments/Restoration

PRP, made from your own blood.

A concentrate of your own platelets, returned to your skin to support its repair. Nothing synthetic is involved.

What it is

PRP stands for platelet-rich plasma. We draw a small amount of your blood and spin it in a centrifuge. That separates out the platelets, which carry growth factors your body uses to repair tissue.

The concentrate is then returned to your skin, either with fine injections or with microneedling. Because it comes from your own blood, there's nothing foreign for your body to react to. Results come on gradually over several weeks.

What it can do for you

PRP supports the skin's own repair rather than adding anything to it.

  • Thin, crepey skin under the eyes can look less tired.
  • Overall skin texture and tone can improve.
  • Fine lines can soften gradually.
  • Thinning hair can be supported. See our hair restoration page for more.

Is it right for me?

PRP suits people who want a natural approach or would rather avoid fillers. It works gradually, so it's best if you're not in a hurry. Your provider will review your health history first.

Not recommended if

You're pregnant or breastfeeding, take blood thinners, have a platelet or bleeding disorder, have an active infection or cancer, or have a skin infection where you'd be treated.

Who does your treatment

PRP from a nurse practitioner.

Brooke, our nurse practitioner injector, draws your blood, prepares the PRP and places it. She'll plan the series with you and see you between sessions.

Before and after your appointment

A few simple guidelines.

The week before

  1. If your doctor agrees, pause anti-inflammatories like ibuprofen for about a week. They can blunt how platelets work.
  2. Drink plenty of water the day before and the day of your visit.
  3. Eat a normal meal before you come in. It makes the blood draw easier.
  4. Tell us about any medications, especially blood thinners.

The 48 hours after

  1. Some swelling, redness or bruising is normal for a day or two.
  2. Avoid anti-inflammatories for a few days. Acetaminophen is fine if you need it.
  3. Skip hard workouts, saunas and alcohol for 48 hours.
  4. Don't rub or massage the area.
  5. Expect to see a change at about four to six weeks.

Questions

The ones we hear most.

Is PRP (platelet-rich plasma) treatment safe?

It's made from your own blood, so there's very little for your body to react to. The main side effects are swelling and bruising where it's placed.

Does the blood draw for PRP hurt?

It's like a routine blood test and only takes a small amount. Numbing cream is used on the treatment area.

Is PRP a one-time treatment?

No. It usually starts as a series of three, about a month apart. After that, two sessions a year help maintain the result.

Can PRP be combined with other treatments?

Yes. It's often paired with microneedling, and your provider may suggest it alongside other skin treatments.
